Dermot Burke: I’m an Irishman at heart, rooted deeply in the traditions and spirit of Ireland, yet have built my life and found my home in the United States. My journey has been shaped by both places—carrying forward the resilience, warmth, and humor of my heritage while embracing the opportunities and challenges of life in America.

Since arriving in New York in the mid-1980s, I’ve lived a life grounded in hard work and growth. I began my career in construction, where I developed a strong work ethic and a deep respect for craftsmanship and perseverance. In 1991, I transitioned into the bar and restaurant industry, a field that has allowed me to connect with people from all walks of life. That sense of connection and community has kept me dedicated to this work ever since.

Beyond my professional path, I am deeply committed to personal healing and growth. I believe in facing the past with honesty and courage, and using those experiences as a foundation for becoming a better, more present version of myself. I strive to live with integrity, to remain openhearted, and to show up in service to others on their own journeys.

Resilience has been a defining thread throughout my life. No matter the challenges, I aim to meet them with strength, humility, and a willingness to learn. I value authenticity, meaningful connection, and, just as importantly, the ability to share a good laugh along the way. Humor, to me, is both a bridge and a balm.

Today, I continue to carry forward these values—honoring where I come from, staying grounded in who I am, and offering my presence and experience in service to others.
